In times of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is also more difficult to ventilate an injured diver. To minimise contact with the diver, resuscitators are a good solution. However, their use is not necessarily taught in first aid courses. This recommendation for action is intended to serve as a guideline for training in the use of resuscitation bags.
The Scientific Diving Commission is the professional association of the subaquatic sciences in Germany. It brings together researchers from all scientific disciplines active in diving, their associations, experts from the statutory accident insurance, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and training companies recognised by the employers' liability insurance associations.
For the professional sector there is the training course "Certified Research Diver" according to BGR/GUV-R 2112, which is published by the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) as the responsible state institution. It forms the basis of the socially insured employment of students, technical and scientific personnel who carry out diving assignments with a scientific background. On an international level, certified research divers are certified as European Scientific Diver / Advanced European Scientific Diver and can work on this basis in many parts of the world.
